Power Electronics Manager | Hamilton Sundstrand | Rockford, IL

and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate
and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space
programs. Our industrial products serve industries ranging from
hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining.
Reports to the Director of Engineering for Electric Systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing the Center of Excellence for Power Electronics & Motor
Controls which includes the Power Electronics, EMI/EMC, and Packaging
departments.
- Directly manage the Power Electronics Department personnel and budget.
- Functional responsibility for staffing and executing programs involving
Motor Controls and Power Conversion products.
- Owner of all products encompassing electrical power conversion, power
protection, and motor controllers in all stages of the products life
cycle from concept definition through, development, verification,
production and post production support.
- Maintain knowledge of the state of the art (i.e. training, staff
development, mentoring, conferences, collaboration with universities
etc.
- Interacting with Discipline Chiefs on the development of a road map and
a technology maturation program to manage new technology risks through
TRL process.
- Apply strong process orientation with the ability to envision and
implement department strategic initiatives.
- Primary focal point with customers and suppliers.
- Enabler for departmental Standard Work processes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Electrical Engineering with 10 years working
directly in the field or
- MS in Electrical Engineering with 7 years working directly in the field.
The candidate should have the majority of their experience working
directly in one the following industries:
- Aerospace experience is preferred or
- High Power Industrial Drives or
- Automotive Industry
